IDENTIFICATION Head Pores - No head pores Scales - no scales remaning on type; scale pockets indicate scales extend to under posterior of D1; basicaudal scales present (one was recorded by Ginsburg for the type) Fins - D1 - VII, none elongate(?); D2 - 12; pectoral - 19; anal - 12 [counts baces on holotype - the only specimen known] Head - Maxilla reaching to under anterior edge of pupil; tongue deepley indented Papillae - A transverse pattern with row 5i anterior to row b and no vertical rows extending below the level of row d Color - Perhaps a narrow banded color pattern; clusters of a few small chromatophores remaining on sides of body and caudal peduncle would seem to indicate the former presence of approximately 5-6 bands on the body, more or less in the position as seen in C. depressus.
