Head - Maxilla extends to anterior or mid-pupil; anterior nostril a short tube; posterior nostril a slit; interorbital narrow

Papillae - A transverse pattern with row 5i/6i at the anterior or row b; no vertical rows extending below the level of row d; three vertcial rows anterior of row b

Color - head and anterior part of body red-orange, grading to dark brown posteriorly; head with 3 pink to whitish bars, and additional 9-10 white bars on body.

Distribution - Central Gulf of California to Puerto Vallarte

Habitat - inhabits rocky reefs, cleans parasites from otherfishes
